August Inkspired Tour

Owl Card
My first project to share with you this month is this Owl card (I’m sorry for the poor picture quality).

I love this punch, which is quite versatile.  Besides this cuter than cute owl, the punch can also be used to make a penguin, a tulip, and  much more.

 Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:

~The background texture is created using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.

~The owl was punched once in each color:  Cherry cobbler, Old Olive and Very Vanilla.  Use the leftovers to create two more owls.

~Save Paper:  Punch the owl out of the center of the Cherry Cobbler Card Stock that is layered behind the Newsprint Designer Series Paper.

Build A Bear Birthday

Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:
~This adorable little bear’s clothes were created using the new In-Colors, Concord Crush, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz. 

~Do you see the cupcake on her card?  I used a marker to ink a single cupcake from the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set for the perfectly sized card.

July Inkspired Tour, 2010

Welcome to the July edition of our Inkspired Tour.  Did you see Martha’s creations on her Miami blog, Stamp Art Papel?  I love her work, she is very creative!

Vintage Eiffel Tower Card
{Amanda’s Stamp Tips}

*Textured card stock is perfect for a vintage look, notice how the stamp only lands on the top part of the card stock.

*I used my fingernail to rough up the edges, then touched the edge of the card stock directly to the stamp pad to give it color.

*Stamping directly on ribbon gives a worn, almost blurred look to add to the vintage/distressed theme.

Vintage Stencil Card

* This stencil is very versatile, it comes with both a positive and negative stencils.  I used both stencils on the main focal point—one in Going Gray, the other in Baja Breeze (are you as excited as I am that this color is back?)

*Are you wondering what paper is on the bottom?  That is our fun new Presto Patterns Designer Series Paper; I used a brayer and Going Gray classic ink to make the white flowers appear.

*The Stencil also works well with the Smooch Spritz.  I sprayed Silver Foil Smooch Spritz on Whisper white card stock to attain the more subtle look on the right.

Vintage Anniversary
{Amanda’s Stamp Tips}

*Templates can be found anywhere.  The layout of this card was created using the new Idea Book & Catalog as inspiration.

*Notice the design of the embossing folder is the same as the stencil used above.  This makes for easy coordination.

*I used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder on Very Vanilla Card Stock, then brayed over it using (the NEW & FABULOUS color) Cherry Cobbler.  The embossing folder gives a very deep impression.

June Inkspired Tour, 2010

Beinvenidos, to the June edition of our Inkspired Tour.  This is a monthly blog tour showcasing the art of 14 stampers from across the country and Puerto Rico.  I hope you enjoyed seeing the creations of Miami stamper, Martha, from her blog Stamp Art Papel.  Be sure to check back on the 15th of every month to follow the designs of these talented artists.

Momentos de la Vida Card

The first card I created for the tour uses the beautiful stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog, called Momentos (the English version is called Elements of Style). 

Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:

• My favorite tool to use (and cheapest) is my nail.  I used my nail to rough up the edge of the Not Quite Navy cardstock to give it dimension. (you’ll see a rougher version on my third project below “Embrace Life with Smooches”)

  Fabric Flower Pin on Fancy Favor

This little bag is so cute and easy to make!  And the bonus is the flower pin that I made and attached to the ribbon. 

The bag is created by simply running a sheet of Bella Bleu Designer Series paper through the Big Shot using the Stampin’ Up! exclusive die,  Fancy Favor.  I assembled the box, tied a ribbon around and pinned the flower to the ribbon.  Hey, this Bella Bleu DSP will no longer be available after June 30!  If you want it, be sure to place an order now.

Now, about that flower!  This fabulously chic pin was created with the Big Shot and the Heat Tool. 

Fabric Flower Tutorial

• Die-cut multiple pieces of synthetic fabric with the Circles #2 Die (I’ve also made gorgeous flowers using the Scallop Circles #2 Die).  Important, the fabric needs to be synthetic if you want this look, because you need the fabric to melt.
• Layer the fabric pieces on top of one another, and use a brad to hold them together. 
• Heat the fabric, starting in the center of the top layer, moving the heat tool around and towards the outer edges.  TIP:  I used a paper piercer to lift each layer of fabric as I was heating.
• The fabric will start to melt quickly, so keep an eye on it!
• Then just finesse the fabric to get the look you want.

Embrace Life with Smooches Card

There is a subtle sparkle to the Old Olive cardstock on this card.  That comes from the Silver Foil Smooch Spritz in the Summer Mini Catalog. Admit it, you love saying “Smooch Spritz” as much as I do. 

You can really see the difference in this photo comparing the two cards and the old olive cardstock.  See the Silver Foil Smooch spritz on the card on the left?

Inkspired Tour, May 2010

Hola Amigas, welcome to my first time participating in a blog tour--the Inkspired Tour.  The tour is made up of 14 blogs from all over (Chicago to Puerto Rico and everywhere in between).  You might be here from the blog of Miami stamper, Martha Lucia Gómez,  Stamp Art Papel.   Her projects are always so beautiful! 

It was fun to create these projects for the tour, and I kept the same colors throughout the three projects.  I used Pink Passion, and Green Galore on all three projects—I love this color combination—these colors are retiring at the end of June, so if you love this combination as much as I do, be sure to order the ink and cardstock!

 

My first card to share with you is a baby card for my new niece, Micah.  I created a set of seven of these cards that my Sister-In-Law could use for either birth announcements or thank you cards.

Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:

• I added a highlight to the letters by first stamping in Pixie Pink, then using the stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp (slightly offset) in Pink Passion.
• To get a deeper impression on the Pink Passion cardstock, I sprayed it with water before I ran it through the Big Shot. 

I’ve seen this birdhouse all over the web and I just had to try it myself.  I added an extra touch to the roof by adding layers with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give them, well dimension :)

Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:

• I used the Mini Milk Carton Die and the Big Shot to create the main part of the birdhouse, then used the 1 3/8” circle punch to create the door.
• The bird was punched out, then I used Pink Passion classic ink to sponge the edges.  I used a Stampin’ dimensional under the wing, then added an eye with a basic black Stampin’ Write Marker.  The leaves inside the house are punched using the same 2-Step Bird Punch.

This card was fun to make, especially this easy flower using the XL Fancy Flower Punch. 

Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:

• I created the flower by punching it out twice, then punching in the center of one of the punched flowers. I then sprayed each with water and crumpled them a bit.  I layered them offset from one another, and curled the petals under before they dried.  I added a rhinestone brad to the center to finish it off.
• Create your own background paper by stamping an image repeatedly in the same color ink as your cardstock.

Birthday Card for my Husband / Tarjeta de Cumpleanos para mi Esposo

Today is my husband’s birthday!  Each year I buy him one of those giant chocolate chip cookie cakes from the mall, and it’s something he looks forward too.  So of course, it seemed appropriate to make a cookie for his card.  I like the simplicity of this card and it seems to really work for a masculine card.

Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:

• Coordinate the envelope to the card by using Stampin’ Write markers in the colors used on the card—in this card I used Chocolate Chip for the main part of the writing (fitting, huh?), then highlighted with a Not Quite Navy Stampin’ Write marker.
• The cookie was created using the 1 3/4” circle punch, then I used the scallop circle to punch a little “bite” out of the cookie.
• I used a Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write marker to create the “chocolate chips” on the cookie (again, fitting, huh?).
• To add a little extra dimension, I roughed up the edges of the Old Olive square.  This is really easy with the Cutter Kit (106958  Price: $16.95) when you use the distressing tool.
• I used Creamy Caramel ink and a blender pen to give the cookie a shadow around the edge and to make it look more three-dimensional.

Sparkly Birthday card / Tarjeta de Cumpleanos Brillante

I made this card for my Mother-in-Law’s birthday (so, since she hasn’t seen it yet—Happy Birthday, Sarita!).  I love the sparkles that the shimmer paint adds to the sentiment and the flower edges.

The flower was easy to make using the scallop edge circle punch. 

1. Punch out five scallop circles.
2. Spray each of them with water.
3. Crinkle up each scallop. 
4. Unfold them and layer them one on top of the other.
5. Punch in the center with the Crop-a-dile and place a brad through all five layers.
6. Starting with the top layer, scrunch each layer back up (the top layer is scrunched tightly, then the others are a little looser).
7. When all layers are scrunched (that’s the technical term, right?), unfold them and finesse them to get the look you want.
8. Let the flower dry, then adhere to project.

I also added shimmer paint to the flower petals for a little extra shine.
