Inkspired Tour, May 2010

DSCN5268

Hola Amigas, welcome to my first time participating in a blog tour--the Inkspired Tour.  The tour is made up of 14 blogs from all over (Chicago to Puerto Rico and everywhere in between).  You might be here from the blog of Miami stamper, Martha Lucia Gómez,  Stamp Art Papel.   Her projects are always so beautiful!

It was fun to create these projects for the tour, and I kept the same colors throughout the three projects.  I used Pink Passion, and Green Galore on all three projects—I love this color combination—these colors are retiring at the end of June, so if you love this combination as much as I do, be sure to order the ink and cardstock!

My first card to share with you is a baby card for my new niece, Micah.  I created a set of seven of these cards that my Sister-In-Law could use for either birth announcements or thank you cards.

Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:

  • DSCN5275I added a highlight to the letters by first stamping in Pixie Pink, then using the stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp (slightly offset) in Pink Passion.
  • To get a deeper impression on the Pink Passion cardstock, I sprayed it with water before I ran it through the Big Shot.

I’ve seen this birdhouse all over the web and I just had to try it myself.  I added an extra touch to the roof by adding layers with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give them, well dimension :)

Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:

  • I used the Mini Milk Carton Die and the Big Shot to create the main part of the birdhouse, then used the 1 3/8” circle punch to create the door.
  • The bird was punched out, then I used Pink Passion classic ink to sponge the edges.  I used a Stampin’ dimensional under the wing, then added an eye with a basic black Stampin’ Write Marker.  The leaves inside the house are punched using the same 2-Step Bird Punch.

Flores Llamativas

This card was fun to make, especially this easy flower using the XL Fancy Flower Punch.

Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:

  • I created the flower by punching it out twice, then punching in the center of one of the punched flowers. I then sprayed each with water and crumpled them a bit.  I layered them offset from one another, and curled the petals under before they dried.  I added a rhinestone brad to the center to finish it off.
  • Create your own background paper by stamping an image repeatedly in the same color ink as your cardstock.

I hope you are enjoying the Inkspired Blog Tour…have fun exploring!  Now go check out Marcia Santiago’s blog Stampin’ With Marcia and see her creations as she stamps in Puerto Rico.

Quick Birthday Card for my Nephew

DSCN4421

I made this Birthday card for my nephew, Nicholas, who turned 5.  He loves nature and especially animals, so I thought of using the giraffe from the Animal Stories set.  I love the look that the giraffe has when stamped on the textured cardstock.

TIP:  Use the Stampin’ Write Markers to write the recipients name in coordinating colors to the card.  I use the darkest color to write the name, then highlight with a lighter coordinating color.

TIP:  Use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the two separate stamps “happy” and “birthday”.

New Catalog Sneak Peek

The new Idea Book and Catalog will be available on July 1, and I wanted to share some photos of new products from the catalog.  I received my pre-order stamp set and the new In-Colors on Friday, along with my demonstrator copy of the new catalog—which is GORGEOUS.

New In-Colors and stamp setThe textured cardstock, MARKERS (Woo Hoo!)and “Animal Stories” stamp set arrived just in time for me to make swaps for the unit meeting on Sunday.  The new In-Colors are (in order from top to bottom) are Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango and Soft Suede.

The unit meeting is my chance to get together with my favorite demonstrators--the L-Inked Together group--to stamp, swap cards, and talk Stampin’ Up!.  Some of the other demonstrators made their swaps with the new catalog stamps and colors, too.  Although, I can't show you the entire catalog I can show you some of the sneak peek products I received along with the swaps that I received Sunday:

DSCN4414 This is the card that I made to swap.  I used Crushed Curry textured cardstock as the main background with strips of Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, and Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  I then stamped the Bali-looking flower from the “It’s a Beautiful Thing” set using the Melon Mambo marker to ink it.  For the Elephant image I created a suede-look on the whisper white square to give it texture.  I then used the Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry markers and the Kissing technique to stamp the elephant image from the “Animal Stories” set.    If you’d like to learn how to create the suede-look or use the kissing technique, schedule a workshop and I’ll show you and your friends.

Stacy Cross created this cute 4”x4” card.  She used some of the new In-Colors as well as the new Modern Label Punch, and Razzleberry Lemonade DSP.

Mandy Grant designed this next card.  She used a great color combination of Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede and Whisper white.  The stamp set on the bottom half is a set from the new catalog, “Circle Circus”.

Abby Biringer created this card with the “Circle Circus” stamp set and new In-Colors.  She did a really neat closure on the card, underneath the scallop punch a tab enters the card to hold it closed.

The last card using new products was made by Lisa Vale.  What a beautiful color combination the Crushed Curry and Whisper White make!  She also used the new Razzleberry Lemonade DSP, and our great new Polka Dot 1/2" Grosgrain Ribbon also in Crushed Curry.

I have to say I love the new catalog! I have 37 items on my wish list if that tells you anything. Of course I won't be paying for all of that. I will try to earn as much free as I can. Ask me how you can, too!

The new catalog is available on July 1! If you’d like your own copy, call me or email me and I’ll order one for you.  Remember, you can get a FREE IDEA BOOK & CATALOG by placing a $150 or more order, hosting a workshop or joining the stamp club.

Although I am super excited about the new catalog, I am still sad to see some of our current In-Colors and Last Chance products leaving us. We still have a few more days to purchase stamps and accessories from our current catalog. Also, if you still have not reserved your spot for the June class be sure to do that as well.  You can sign up in the upper right corner of my blog.
