Tips Video for the Paper Doily Die

The new Paper Doily Sizzix Die from the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog (page 7) creates an intricate doily design from single layers of Designer Series Paper or card stock using this newly-sized larger Sizzlits die.

This die is not for the speedy stamper, but the extra effort makes for a beautiful project!  As you’ll see in the video below, the bigger pieces drop out by themselves, but the little ones need to be (carefully!) poked out with your Snips or Paper-Piercing Tool.

Order the Paper Doily Sizzix Die here in my online store…

The Instructional Video below is by Carrie Cudney from the corporate office of Stampin' Up!.  In this video she demonstrates how to make the Paper Doily Large Sizzlits Die Card on page 7 of the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.

If you have any questions about the die, please email me and I’d be glad to answer them.

June Inkspired Tour, 2010

Not Quite Olive Flowers Beinvenidos, to the June edition of our Inkspired Tour.  This is a monthly blog tour showcasing the art of 14 stampers from across the country and Puerto Rico.  I hope you enjoyed seeing the creations of Miami stamper, Martha, from her blog Stamp Art Papel.  Be sure to check back on the 15th of every month to follow the designs of these talented artists.

Momentos de la Vida Card

Momentos de la VidaThe first card I created for the tour uses the beautiful stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog, called Momentos (the English version is called Elements of Style).

Amanda’s Stamp Pad Tips:

  • My favorite tool to use (and cheapest) is my nail.  I used my nail to rough up the edge of the Not Quite Navy cardstock to give it dimension. (you’ll see a rougher version on my third project below “Embrace Life with Smooches”)

Fabric Flower Pin on Fancy Favor

Fancy Flower bagThis little bag is so cute and easy to make!  And the bonus is the flower pin that I made and attached to the ribbon.

The bag is created by simply running a sheet of Bella Bleu Designer Series paper through the Big Shot using the Stampin’ Up! exclusive die,  Fancy Favor.  I assembled the box, tied a ribbon around and pinned the flower to the ribbon.  Hey, this Bella Bleu DSP will no longer be available after June 30!  If you want it, be sure to place an order now.

Now, about that flower!  This fabulously chic pin was created with the Big Shot and the Heat Tool.

Fabric Flower Tutorial

  • Die-cut multiple pieces of synthetic fabric with the Circles #2 Die (I’ve also made gorgeous flowers using the Scallop Circles #2 Die).  Important, the fabric needs to be synthetic if you want this look, because you fabric flowerneed the fabric to melt.
  • Layer the fabric pieces on top of one another, and use a brad to hold them together.
  • Heat the fabric, starting in the center of the top layer, moving the heat tool around and towards the outer edges.  TIP:  I used a paper piercer to lift each layer of fabric as I was heating.
  • The fabric will start to melt quickly, so keep an eye on it!
  • Then just finesse the fabric to get the look you want.

Embrace Life with Smooches Card

Embrace Bella SmoochesI will really miss this Embrace Life Stamp Set and Bella Bleu Designer Series paper when they both retire at the end of this month.  If you will too, contact me to place an order or place one online by visiting my online store

Old Olive where are the smoochesThere is a subtle sparkle to the Old Olive cardstock on this card.  That comes from the Silver Foil Smooch Spritz in the Summer Mini Catalog. Admit it, you love saying “Smooch Spritz” as much as I do.

You can really see the difference in this photo comparing the two cards and the old olive cardstock.  See the Silver Foil Smooch spritz on the card on the left?

I hope you enjoy the rest of the tour. Check out the next stop which will bring you to Puerto Rico’s talented Marcia Santiago and her blog Stampin’ With Marcia.

Sparkly Birthday card / Tarjeta de Cumpleanos Brillante

DSCN5177

I made this card for my Mother-in-Law’s birthday (so, since she hasn’t seen it yet—Happy Birthday, Sarita!).  I love the sparkles that the shimmer paint adds to the sentiment and the flower edges.

DSCN5179

The flower was easy to make using the scallop edge circle punch.

  1. Punch out five scallop circles.
  2. Spray each of them with water.
  3. Crinkle up each scallop.
  4. Unfold them and layer them one on top of the other.
  5. Punch in the center with the Crop-a-dile and place a brad through all five layers.
  6. Starting with the top layer, scrunch each layer back up (the top layer is scrunched tightly, then the others are a little looser).
  7. When all layers are scrunched (that’s the technical term, right?), unfold them and finesse them to get the look you want.
  8. Let the flower dry, then adhere to project.

I also added shimmer paint to the flower petals for a little extra shine.
